Trigger phrases and words to evoke an emotional response!

To be or to not be ‘#woke’? I see too many people who proclaim themselves “woke,” as a fad. From the ‘Black Lives Matter’ movement to ‘Justice for Jayraj and Fenix/Bennicks’, all of these sentiments and beliefs are short-lived and for the 'gram. No doubt, awareness is one thing, but knowing how to act on that awareness is another.

It is important to live by this interaction principle: Never try to interact with a person as a representative of a group. Mark Twain rightly said, the difference between the right word and the almost right word is “the difference between lightning and a lightning bug.”

In this piece, I want to discuss certain trigger words and phrases that are positive and social-media friendly! The goal of this post is to give you some examples of words that bring the lightning. And by ‘lightning I mean words that invoke and engage emotion.

1. Health - Besides health regarding the realm of mental and physical wellness, it can be used as a metaphor for other areas such as relationships and business.

Instead use:

· Boost

· Energise

· Uphold

· Cure

2. Anger - We don’t provoke anger for anger’s sake, we do it to provide us with a solution to our problem.

Instead use:

· Cruel

· Unscrupulous

· Had enough?

· Temporary fix

3. Revenge - The action you want people to take is more on the lines of a positive impact-- “living well is the best revenge,” not something ugly or destructive.

Instead use:

· Avenge

· Payback

· Reclaim

· Turn the tables

· Swindle

4. Passion - When your audience is passionate about what you have to say or sell, there’s no need to convince them of need, it’s all about want. So don’t take passion for granted, enhance it!

Instead use:

· Blissful

· Delightful

· Jubilant

· Rave

· Thrilled

5. Urgency - A call to action is immensely important! one way or another you’ve got to create it at your close.

Instead use:

· Before you forget…

· Limited

· Seize

· While it’s fresh on your mind…

Use the right buzz words! The difference between the right word and the almost right word is determined by the level of emotional identification that word prompts. Of course, without offending any groups!

Let me know if any of these words/phrases came in handy down in the comments section!
